Fervent Prayer Week: Led to Repentance

Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? Romans 2:3-4
Paul's question is, "Why are you acting the way you are?" Why do you judge others so critically and so constantly, yet never seem to judge yourself? Surely it can't be that you think you are going to escape! If you know that God judges according to truth, you must be included in that judgment as well.

If it is not that you think you'll escape his judgment, then it must be that you are treating with disdain the grace of God towards you. Dont you know God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? When we see Christ's great sacrifice on the cross as an expression of His grace towards us how can we not repent of our sinful lives and reflect His righteousness.

God's grace offers us the opportunity of repentance and true repentance is not synonymous with regret which says “I'm sorry I got caught”.  Repentance is a change of mind that results in an action of the will. When a sinner sincerely changes his mind about Jesus Christ, he will turn to Him, trust Him, and be saved. If a Christian honestly changes his mind about sin he will turn from it.
