MERCY HILL'S MISSION:

Mercy Hill Church is committed to being the church by uniting lost and hurting children to their heavenly Father through the work of Christ, cultivating spiritual development by the merciful application of God’s word in Gospel community and by creating an environment where the Holy Spirit’s presence is free to be both experienced and shared.

  • UNITE: lost and hurting children with their loving, heavenly Father through the power of Christ's Cross.

  • CULTIVATE: personal spiritual development and active Gospel community through the generous application of God's Word, mercy and grace.

  • CREATE: an environment in which God's presence and power is both experienced and reflected.

Mercy Hill is committed to a philosophy of church that values community and focuses on the development of people rather than the expansion of the organization.  We are not focused on building a church, but rather, focused on BEING the church.

We invite you to explore who we are, and maybe you will find a home along side us where you can experience God, develop personally and impact your community.

Core Values:

  • The integrity of the scriptures: We believe that the scripture is the inspired word of God. Every decision, from church government to personal counsel, will be subjected to light of scripture. We will set all of the church on solely the scripture. We will choose to speak when the scripture speaks and be silent when the scripture is silent. (Psalms 119:105, II Timothy 3:16-17, Acts 17:11-12, Hebs. 4:12)

  • The development of God’s family through the liberal application of God’s mercy: Every interaction that we have as servants of God needs to be bathed in God’s mercy and God’s love. All teaching, discipleship, outreach and even correction must be made, as fallible human beings in light of God’s mercy as extended to us, out of love and concern for the individual and the unity of the body. (Matt 7:1-5, 18:12-14, 18:21-35. Luke 6:37-38,

  • The unity of the Body: It is paramount to the mission of the church to maintain the unity of God’s body. First of all God clearly desires that his church be unified, acknowledging and practicing the equal value of all members of the body. Secondly it is impossible for the church to accomplish its mission if each part of the body is not unified performing its task. Therefore the unity of the body encompasses identifying and equipping each part to take its place. (I Cor. 1:10-17, 12:12-27, Phil. 2:1-4)

  • Facilitating an authentic and dynamic experience with God: It is important that every believer experiences an authentic, dynamic and charismatic interaction with their God, knowing that He is alive and in touch with them as His children. To that end, we must teach the practice of daily communication (prayer), continual meditation (God’s Word), and sincere adoration (worship). (Joshua 1:8, I Thess. 5:17, Psalms 95:6-7, Phil. 4:6)

  • Accountability through openness and honesty: We believe that one of the greatest tools of spiritual growth and personal purity is accountability. We will strive to expose our lives (personal and church) to the light of transparency taking every reasonable step to make sure no actions are taken or decisions made in darkness. (James 5:16, John 4:23-24)

  • Doing all things with excellence: We believe in pursuing excellence in all we do as a reflection of our love and reverence for God. In our thoughts, actions, relationships and ministries we will strive to do our very best to honour God with the gifts he has given us. (I Chor. 21:24, Phil. 4:8-9, II Tim. 2:15, Col. 3:14-17)

WHAT we BELIEVE

DOCTRINE

Doctrine is not a popular topic these days. The word doctrine sounds dogmatic, narrow and non-inclusive. The dictionary defines doctrine as "a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group." For our purposes, doctrine is simply our attempt to organize the clearly revealed truth of the Bible in a way that is understandable and comprehensive so that you can know what grounds and orients our church

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, that it was written by men divinely inspired of God to communicate, flawlessly, His message to humanity, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

GOD

We believe in the eternal Triune God, three persons in one being. We believe that God is the creator of the universe and all that is in it, that He is the King over His Creation, and desires both loyalty and love from all people. He is without change, just, holy, all-knowing, all-present, all-powerful, the supreme judge over all, yet full of mercy, and compassion.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son, miraculous in birth to a virgin, sinless in life on earth, and making a sacrifice for sin in death. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His perpetual intercession for His people, and His ultimate visible return to earth to judge the world and establish His kingdom.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit who was sent by the Father and the Son, to make people conscious of sin and righteousness, to bring people new life in Christ, to lead them in holy lives, to comfort them, and to bestow upon each believer gifts for service.

MANKIND

We believe that humans by nature and subsequently by choice are sinners but that, "God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." We believe, therefore, that those who turn from sin and accept Christ as their Savior and Lord will rejoice forever in God’s presence, and those who reject the revelation of God will be forever separated from His presence in the desolation of life without Him.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the universal or catholic church is made up of all those across any denominational, national, or racial lines who, being made alive to the Truth of God by the Spirit, put their faith in the work of Christ alone as their Savior from their own sins. A local church is made up of those believers gathered in a particular region and overseen by their pastors/elders seeing Christ’s work in their lives by celebrating baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and to devoting their hearts, minds, and souls to the worship of Him. Outside the corporate gathering, they seek to live a life changed by Christ and devoted to authentically following Him. They share each other’s lives in joy, burden, support, and respect. They seek to reach others with Christ’s love.
